Abhishek Bachchan was born in the year 1976 to Bollywood actors Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan. His sister Shweta, is married into the illustrious Nanda family. Abhishek's grandfather, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, was a poet of Urdu and Hindi literature. Teji was his grandmother.
Abhishek did his schooling from Jamnabai Narsee School and later at Bombay Scottish School, Mumbai. He graduated form Aiglon College, Switzerland.
In 2000, he made his debut with JP Dutta's Refugee, along with Kareena Kapoor. The film didn't do very well at the box office, but with his performance in Mani Ratnam's Yuva (2004) he finally proved his mettle as an actor after a string of flops.
In 2005, he achieved stardom with four consecutive hits: Bunty Aur Babli, Sarkar, Dus and Bluffmaster.
In 2006, he received the Yash Bharati Samman, the most prestigious award from Uttar Pradesh.
In 2006 he was also voted Sexiest Asian Man of 2006 in an annual poll conducted by Britain's leading Asian weekly Eastern Eye.
In 2007, he starred in another Mani Ratnam film called Guru, which brought him much acclaim for his performance as one of the biggest business tycoons in India’s history.
Abhishek married Aishwarya Rai on April 20, 2007.
He is the brand ambassador for Motorola and his upcoming projects are Delhi-6 and Ravana.
