In 1984, Ashutosh Gowariker made his debut as an actor in Ketan Mehta’s movie Holi. Later he acted in several television serials including Circus (1989) and a few movies including Naam and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1993).
In 1993, Ashutosh directed his first movie Pehla Nasha starring Aamir Khan. The movie was inspired by Brian De Palma's Hollywood flick, Body Double.
In 2001, Gowariker directed the period epic movie, Lagaan, once again starring Aamir Khan. Lagaan received critical acclaim and nomination for an Oscar Academy Award in USA for Best Foreign Language Film.
In 2004, Ashutosh Gowariker directed Swades, starring Shah Rukh Khan. The movie was critically acclaimed and was a big hit overseas.
Gowariker's latest film, Jodhaa Akbar is a period flick which released in February 2008. It was adjudged the Best Film at the Star Screen Award 2009.

THANK YOU,Mr.Ashuthosh for giving us the real entertaining movies ,nearly to the oscar range. not nearly,but to the standard of the oscars. i thank u once again for giving the beautiful movie JODHAA AKBAR ,the best ever historical-romantic story produced in indian film history. from the release of the film everybody wonders does it survives in this fast,meaningless rubbish films race or not. but the overwhelming respone to the film across the globe put an end to all the obstacles in the success path. the smashing victory made me to felt the success to my own production. in my 30 years of filmi watching experience,ur recent film JA made me mad abut the film in my middle age. well done, Mr.Ashuthosh.ALL THE BEST FOR UR NEXT VENTURE.

One thing more to tell u sir is that please calm urself. I Understand u r still very upset about Swadesh Hangover of the fact that it didnt work at the box-office. But Sir we fans love u as a filmmaker. And we expect a lot from ur side. I really dont know about other people but i really love u as filmmaker as i like the Grand Vision U potray in ur films. I love patroitic feeling in lagaan, Nationalism in Swadesh, Royalty in Jodha Akbar. But u know something I like Ammir-SRK very much. Aamir is a true perfectionest &&෧ SRK has a kind Of spontenious Which attracts me. I truely Love Ammir as Bhuvan &&෧ SRK as Mohan. And the way u showed them on screen Especially SRK Touched me as i believe U touched his positive side as a actor &&෧ stopped all his hamming that he does. I am not saying that he dont know how to act But in Swadesh i really saw the real SRK, the emotions, the dialougue delievery everything seems to be perfect their as i believe U r around him. And dont worry about box office results it happens sometimes but Swades was great. Now i request U to cast him again One more Chance or cast him in any supporting role bcoz U made him to give his best. Made the Script for both of them &&෧ give both the role that can do justice to their talent. I really love all ur films. And i am not forgetting Hrithik either bcoz u made Hrithik also to give his best performance. I just want u to request to make a film with Both of them especially SRK.

Hello Sir this is again ur fan speaking to u.I again say that i am a avid watcher of all ur films &&෧ love them very much. I want u to create another film with a historical character in it. An my request to u is that please make a film with both Aamir-SRK in the lead. I am anxiously waiting for that film to be made by u. Please for god sake sir i with my true heart want u to do a film with both of them togeather. I sincerely pray to u for that moment when u will make a film with each of them either in a one film or a different film. I Truely with my say that i loved ur both lagaan &&෧ Swadesh &&෧ Jodha Akbar too. But for me Both lagaan &&෧ Swadesh r Exceptional. Especially Swadesh. And one thing i guess i feel pity for Swades is why it floped as bcoz of the pace. i believe it dealts with major issues. Sir i tell u i love Swades to death. The only reason i feel the film did not work is may bcoz of the pace is very long. Everytime i see this film i dont know it creates a certain type of a magic.
May be i have not seen shahrukh sitting in panchayat and talking like as if he is a neta or something. I love each &&෧ every scene of the film. And i guess u have made the with pure honesty. Recreate Swades once more.
