Udita's parents are originally from Assam. But she was born in Dehra Dun and her family is fairly conservative. Initially they opposed Udita's decision to move to Mumbai but later they relented. Once she landed up in Mumbai she managed some modelling contracts for prestigious brands such as Nokia, Pepsi and Titan watches.
Her debut film was Paap that did not fare well at the boxoffice but she received a few good offers after that. Udita also acted in the music video Kya Khoob Lagti Ho opposite Upen Patel.
