'One Two Three is close to my heart'
We got talking to actor-producer Sunil Shetty about his surprise visit to Gallery Beyond, an art gallery in Mumbai. Suniel spoke about his films and other interesting developments in his life.
Well, what brings you to an art show?
Don't be so surprised. Both Mana (wife) and I are art-lovers and like to collect works of art. But given a chance I love going to galleries and seeing artworks. I am attending this show to support the Save the Children India foundation of which I happen to be the brand ambassador.
Tell us more about the organisation and its connection with this show.
Save the Children India is an NGO working for the empowerment of women and children since 1988. It focuses especially on educational and heath issues and has lately extended its purview to combating trafficking of children from rural areas.
You have never screamed from the rooftops about your involvement and work in such arenas…
That's the way I am. Why only for this cause; I have never talked about my activities and myself to the world. Perhaps I’m the only actor who has no PR person advertising his activities, nor have I ever called up the media to report about what I’m doing. I’m not running down those who do it – they have their own reasons for it, which I respect. But I choose to go about my work quietly, letting my action speak for words.
But don’t you feel that your status as a celebrity will help at least noble causes better when you are vocal about your involvement with the same?
Well, I'm vocal about my involvement as much as I think is needed. I talk about the cause when asked about it.
