Hail the desi Charlie's Angels!
With half-a-dozen films in the pipeline, Subhash Ghai's production house is one busy place. And on Tuesday the banner launched yet another project, which supposedly is India's answer to Charlie's Angles – but with a twist. Titled Hello Darling, this film is about three women taking on a bunch of bad guys. But there is no action. Instead, it is a 'social comedy on sexual harassment at workplace' according to debutante director, Manoj Tiwari.
Tiwari has been Ghai's chief assistant director for quite some time and has managed to rope in a number of Mukta Arts regulars for his film. Hello Darling's glam trio includes Celina Jaitely, Isha Koppikar and Gul Panag.
All the girls looked really excited at the event since the film has no hero to speak of. Jaaved Jaffrey plays the main villain while Chunky Pandey will be seen as an Elvis look-alike.
The launch started with the mahurat shot which was a confrontation scene between Jaaved and Celina. She had to throw a glass of water towards Jaaved after he passes a lewd remark. The shot was finally canned after a number of takes leaving behind a fully drenched Jaaved.
Celina, who incidentally has got herself a new haircut for the film, said she completely identified with her role. She plays a gullible and attractive secretary who can't see through her boss's real intentions. Celina said she has no problems sharing the frame with other heroines as long as the banner is good.
Gul Panag plays a seasoned employee who has old scores to settle with Jaaved while Ishaa is the new recruit.
"Thankfully I have got a chance to do comedy as I was dying to break away from serious roles," Gul said. For Javed Jaffrey it's a chance to return to the banner he debuted with about 20 years ago.
But who is the mysterious Charlie here? Well, going by the credits there is a special appearance by Sunny Deol whose look and role are being kept strictly under wraps. Deol who is also doing Ghai’s Right Yaa Wrong, might just use his Punjabi punch to help the three lasses and enhance the film's prospects at the box office as well.
