REVIEW 1: Do sit through Jodhaa
Over the last few weeks, television channels have been flooded with debates over the relationship between Jodhaa and Akbar. Was she his wife or his daughter-in-law? The question has seen many answers, arguments and counter arguments. So it isn't surprising to see a disclaimer even before Ashutosh Gowariker's epic saga starts.
We are told that while the name of Akbar's wife remains a topic of debate, historians have agreed that the Emperor did marry a Hindu princess. Further, it acknowledges the existence of other versions of the story, and suggests that this is just one of them. What it does not tell you though that it is about 3 hours and 40 minutes long.

Having said that however it must be mentioned that if you can actually sit through this phenomenally long film, you may actually walk out feeling quite pleased with the effort.
As the title of the film suggests, Ashuthosh's dream project tells the story of two people who meet circumstantially and end up falling in love. It is just incidental that these two people happen to be the Emperor and the Empress of India. Needless to say that this puts them (and the filmmaker) in a rather curious situation. Because there's so much happening around them that it becomes difficult for their love to reach fruition. And sure enough it becomes a bit of a problem for Ashu to film their story too.
So just what does one concentrate upon: the dynastical politics in Rajputana or the kitchen politics within Akbar's household? If Ashu is to be blamed he should be for not being able to strike a balance between these two.
Yes, the narrative flags at various points. Yes, you keep looking at your watch. Yes, you want to tell Ashu to get on with it. Yet you sit through it all. Why? Because Jodhaa Akbar, whether we like to admit it or not, is a story that dreams are made of.

I watched the movie and i really enjoyed every scene.\
if people dont like history , then go and watch a
hillarious movie / science fiction movie.
i suggest that people watch the movie and take the good
teachings from them.
i think the movie is a super hit ,cause it teaches you
that even if u are a foreigner ,& if u r born in
hindustan ( india) you love the country as much as the local
indians do .
this movie preaches love and harmony between two cultures
( hindu & muslim)
lets forget everything and keep in mind that we are human
beings first and then indian or foreigner.
it is righly said that god made humans and humans made
boundaries........

First time i saw the movie, i felt i need to know more ;
2nd time i saw with more research about akbar and i could
understand the director's presentation more clearly; more
have been said akbar being barbaric/polygamy- but then that
was the trend that time; it was justifiable that time- as
emperor's prime responsibility was to make his empire
strong; bloodshed/marriages were part of king's life ;
instead , one should look at the secular approach he took
and the inclusive politics he worked out; those
contributions are significant if you see the kind of
resistance he would have faced that time; he was able to
bring maximum of states under one empire, which actually
helped in bringing indians together; before that it was all
states/smaller states and with no country concept...
Akbhar killed thousands of civilians in india. Why this is
not chosen as film subject. Such a cruel person's love life
is least interested on this earth. As human being every one
loves women and have feelings. Why cant ashuthosh choose
hitler's love towards his wife as subject and show it to
people.
Ja is rocking in dubai , ash is too too good . I use to hate
ash now i just love her
Ja sucks big time. It was torturous for us to sit through
the film. Though we'd not gone with high expectations, we
expected it to be an average film given all the hype and
some reviews by critics like masand. We were thoroughly
disappointed. My cousin even went to the extent of
commenting - "it's better not to make such films and
waste 40 crore rupees. At least if they'd donated a part of
that money to some ngo, many, many children would've had new
lives!". I agreed with my cousin that his thought was
indeed worthy of pondering.
i would like to ask the movie director ashutosh if he has
any value for that kind of money which he has now sent down
the drain apart from making a few stars richer by a few
crores!!
Okay,i looove this movie,i saw it on saturday and im still
dreaming about it!!!
it was rocking!
the best hrithik roshan movie ever..Though dhoom 2..
but this was classy!!
i loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved...It!!!
hehe...
Movie is really good though it is little long but the name
is enough to understand , you certainly cannot expect some
extra ordinary things happening. Hritik has done a great job
and is looking really awesome and aishwarya is no doubt the
most beautiful woman in this world. She is the real diva. I
loved the costumes , the monuments , everything ,it made me
think of those mughal days . I loved it.
Yes i do agree with the author...Its indeed a beautiful
movie.....Only the thing is when i was watchin the movie i
kept lookin at the time.........Hrit-ash chemistry has
indeed kept alive
I agree on most of the points...In totality it was a great
effort and hence worthwatching..Kudos to ashu..Hrithik..Aish
Like the film the review is contrived and difficult to
endure. Bad art direction, cinematography, script etc. Ashu's
only achievement is he could make even rehman fall below the
line of mediocrity.Ashu has always been close to mediocrity,
but this time around he falls in to the abyss of no bottom.
Ronny(utv),you can give somebody the money but neither
creativity nor competence, so watch where you put your
money...Before its late. My empathies to the audience...I
can still feel the pain...Must see for the masochists.
