BUZZ RECCO: Encino Man (1992)

Encino Man is the story of two high school nerds who find a caveman in their backyard and transform him into a happening stud in order to become cool (by association). Dave Morgan (Sean Austin) and Stoney Brown (Pauly Shore) dig their backyard to build a swimming pool before graduation day and find a frozen but still alive caveman. They thaw him but instead of taking the defrosted Cro-Magnon to paleontologists, they hide him in a tool shed.

Soon after, they give the caveman a shower and a shave and transform the caveman into a full-blown stud and name him Linkovich Chomosky. They tell Dave's parents Link is an exchange student from Russia but Link sure doesn't behave Russian! Just watch how he dances with Dave's dog!

Link (Brendan Fraser) is the coolest Stone Age man ever. He grunts, eats houseflies, is a wide-eyed fellow who looks like a rock star and floors all the women. Some very funny moments - he pushes Dave's dog away from its plate because he likes the dog food and doesn't want to share it with anyone!

Link makes all hell break loose at school, accompanied by Stoney's highly unusual behaviour. Pauly Shore is someone you either love or hate - he talks in a monotone and adds -age to almost every word. The way he says 'buddy' and 'weasel' will either make you cringe or think he's one of the coolest people you've ever seen in a movie.

Together, the three turn their school Encino High into a very exciting place. Dave and Link succeed in getting the women they fancy, after turning the tables on the not-so-pleasant guys who have a beef with Dave. The discotheque scene where everyone gets drunk and arrested is just too good!

Encino Man is one of the silliest movies you can ever watch and have a fun time laughing at the silliness. Forget The Mummy, this flick made for 15 year olds is my favourite Brendan Fraser movie!
