Most of us know him as the charming and menacing Captain Jack Sparrow from The Pirates Of The Caribbean trilogy. But Johnny Depp has long been known for his offbeat roles in movies that show off his versatility and fantastic acting prowess.

Born John Christopher Depp II in Kentucky, Johnny was raised in Florida and at the age of 15, dropped out of school to become a rock musician. Johnny's Hollywood debut was A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984), but shot to fame with the role of Tommy Hanson is the smash hit TV series 21 Jump Street.

His first major hit was Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands, which not only gave him worldwide recognition but also established him as a unique performer. He went on to act in several movies, and the oddball characters he played shot him to dizzying heights of stardom, cementing his position as one of Hollywood’s finest and most loved.

It's hard to pick the best out of Depp's awesome filmography, but here are five movies you have to have seen to call yourself a true Johnny Depp fan…
