REVIEW: Aagey Se Right
Audiences really had a lot of expectations from UTV's film Aagey Se Right due to the star cast – Shreyas Talpade, Mahie Gill, Kay Kay Menon, Shenaz Treasurywala and Vijay Maurya to name a few. But unfortunately, the film has turned out to be just a notch better than Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge – maybe in production values but definitely not in storytelling.
The film begins with some terrorist action in a dark jungle and Kay Kay Menon's appearance. Just when you wonder whether it's a comedy after all, Shreyas Talpade's track begins.
Shreyas plays Dinkar Waghmare, a good for nothing village boy who lands a job in the police force, as his late father was apparently a commissioner or something (strange that his mom (Bharati Achrekar) and he live in such middle-class conditions, then).
In what is only his second day at work, Dinkar happens to lose his revolver to some hooligans. Now, the unlikely cop starts hunting for the weapon, taunted time and again by hallucinations of his overbearing mom.
Mahie Gill plays a TV journalist who Dinkar fancies.
The parallel track is that of Balma Rashidui Khairi (Kay Kay Menon), a Pakistani terrorist, and Shetty (Vijay Maurya), the weapons dealer. These two actors are at their best.
It's funny to see how a dangerous, Urdu-speaking terrorist ends up falling in love with the beautiful singer Pearl (Shenaz Treasurywala). Not only does he learn tapori lingo and mannerisms to impress her, but also ultimately abandons his mission to blow up the Police Day function. But of course, his aides think otherwise and plant the bomb themselves.
Another track is that of the love story between a tapori junior artiste and the police commissioner's daughter, played by Shiv Pandit and Shruti Seth respectively.
Amidst all this, Dinkar keeps finding his revolver at crisis locations, only to lose it again. His gun is basically used by several people as a threat, and in a bid to get his hands on the weapon, the cop inadvertently ends up saving the possible victims.
This makes him a hero in the eyes of the reporter, and Dinkar is splashed across the channel, much to the chagrin of his immediate boss (Rajesh Khera).
