REVIEW: Mere Khwabon Mein...
Director Madureeta Anand's first offering Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye is a woman-centric film. It's the story of a young woman who's stifled her ambitions to become what is her husband's idea of a perfect wife.
Raima Sen is Maya - the married woman whose life revolves around her daughter. Maya is a good singer who gave up singing because her chauvinist husband doesn't approve of it. She performs her household duties religiously and continues doing so even after she overhears a telephone conversation hubby is having with his carrot-munching mistress. That's not it - on realising her husband is having a steamy affair with another woman, the poor housewife attempts to seduce him! When she's tired of the whole thing, Maya teams up with a rock band in the neighbourhood and participates in a music talent hunt!
Arbaaz Khan is Maya's chauvinist husband Vikram - this guy has trouble acting inspite of having played similar roles before. Stuck-up and perpetually disapproving of every move his wife makes, Vikram is having an intense fling with a raunchy, faceless mistress. Unable to handle his wife bringing back to life her aspirations, Vikram accuses Maya of having an extramarital affair with the band's singer!
Randeep Hooda is Jai - Maya's imaginary friend/guide/lover. Jai talks in a slow drawl which is so slow you start guessing what he's going to complete his sentences with. Jai shakes Maya's beliefs and points out the ways in which she's limiting herself, all the while making her fall head over heels for him.
