REVIEW: Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
Aditya Chopra's last outing as a director was Mohabbatein. The film, which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, brought the then down-and-out Big B back in the reckoning. Eight years later, when it seems like the Chopras themselves could do with some resurrection, who do they turn to, but Shah Rukh Khan!
Khan plays a government servant Surinder Sahni who lives a fairly uneventful life in small-town Amritsar. On his deathbed, Surinder's professor urges him to marry his only daughter Taani (Anushka Sharma) who is yet to recover from her fiancé's death.
Caught in this rather awkward situation, the two people start their newly married life by living in separate bedrooms, hardly speaking and sharing very little in common. While Surinder is head over heels in love with his bride, Taani continues to remain holed up in her room.
Surinder who seems clueless of how to make his wife smile realises how much Taani loves Hindi films and its heroes.
Meanwhile, the once bubbly and cheerful Taani learns of a dance-training programme and asks her husband's permission to participate in it.
Surinder is so desperate to win Taani's heart and see her smile again, he undergoes a complete transformation courtesy his loyal friend Bobby (Vinay Pathak) and sneaks into the dance class just to catch a peek of his wife. As luck would have it, he ends up becoming her dancing partner and introduces himself as Raj.
A complete opposite of Surinder, Raj is an OTT Punjabi boy who wears tight jeans, garish t-shirts and bright sunglasses even when it's not sunny outside. Unlike Surinder, he also goes all out to display his feelings for her and knocks off the power supply of half the town just to say the three words.
And that's when things change for the worse. You see, Taani has fallen in love with Raj not knowing that he and her husband are the very same person, which makes it rather complicated for our unsuspecting hero.
How Taani comes to terms with her feelings and who – Raj or Surinder – walks away with the girl form the climax of the story.

Shahruk is the king of bollywood
I will rate the movie 5star and the guy srk is just
outstanding actor he can turn the movie into a big success n
only he can do it i been watching movies from long time but
no one is like mr srk........................Ur a king of
acting
Once again srk has proved that he is only king in the
bollywood. He is brillaint and marvellous actor in whole
world.Aditya chopra & srk has magic.Rnbdj is
megablockbuster.Only one king in bollywood ,ofcourse king
khan.(srk).
I still dnt understand when will indian audeince wake up and
sy no to such dull and pathetic romantic movies of srk. Its
still no understandable how this pathetic and dull movie
could make such big bucks..There were lot of good movies
in08 to cheer about..Like aamir,a wednesday , rock on
Rnbdj is fantastic movie which i ever seen superb
performances by everybody king khan is awesome, anushka is
mind blowing in her first movie & it's a very sweet
story i think rnbdj is best film of this year this film is
just a slap for those who r saying that srk is not king srk
is still king...
Anushka was lively and sweet as well but the end 'd ought to
be better not like typical hindi movies...
srk really rocked as raj.....
Otherwise he was a heap of boredom only presence of tani was
good.
The jodi of srk and aditya chopra is the best . He comes up
with such a innocent concept and creates magic with it . Srk
is the best . Deserves all the awards this year for his
fantastic performance as suri . Anushka has the sweetest
smile . Srk is the best and aditya chopra should direct
more movies.
Who says a boring movie. The best film ever made.Srk is here
there
everywere...Srk rockssss
If a person has a emotion (let it be a very little), he will
definetly like it. Its just rocking. Srk was superb &
anushka was excellent. Guys, take my words " anushka
sharma" will rock the bollywood with nobody near to
her..Ofcourse aditya had done a beatiful job. Adi is my
favoite director. I dont know how he imagine a story that
touches the audience & then direct it so nicely. Adi,
bollywood needs you...After a long time( after mohabbatien),
it was nice to see rnbdj. I just loved the movie. Srk is the
king khan (known to everybody), adi - top director (this too
known to everybody), anushka, guys-be ready to see her
more...I love anushka
Well... It's not the best movie i've ever seen...
It's rather ok... Might have been a flop, if srk
wasn't there!... It is shahrukh khan who "lights
up" your life with his superb performance even though
aditya chopra makes a mess of the heart-winning love story
with an overdose of weepy melodrama in the second half of
rab ne bana di jodi. Before the final fifteen minutes of the
film, the love story nosedives into regression and you are
told that lovers have begun to see
rab (no less) in each other. Why
aditya? Is love any less if you dont see?
Cant one see the lover as who he or she is?
the songs are ordinary... "haule haule ..." is a
good one... "chance pe dance marle" should be a
hit disco number.
anuska, in her debut, did a good job in this film... She
looks pretty and dances very well...
vinay pathak the only third character in the
story plays surinders gaudily
dressed buddy who runs a hair salon and advices him on how
to be macho. This is perhaps the first
time pathak has played such a flashy character and he does
it extremely fine.
many thanks to srk for holding the film together without
overacting his part. This is one of the best performances by
king khan if not the best!
srk is the pivot on which the whole movie rests. The body
language, the mannerisms and the expressions he lends to his
nerdy surinder is the stuff you see from polished actors.
His performance shows why he's still the king of
bollywood!
i'd give this film 3 [out of that 2 is for srk :-)]
out of 5 !
worth a watch!
