REVIEW: Shiney's Hijack
Coming from debutante director Kunal Shivdasani, Hijack is an action thriller. It’s heartening to see new filmmakers moving away from the stereotype, and Hijack is a good step in this direction. It has been awhile since the Hindi film industry has seen a decent action film, and this might be just what the masses need.
CRUISING ON A BUMPY RUNWAY
The movie opens with terrorists attacking a police truck to help one of their own escape. Barely a minute into the movie, helicopters and machine guns let you know you’ve come to the right screening hall, and you sit back to see what happens next.
The police open fire on the choppers and return the attack, and the very well-executed scene ends with two cops pointing guns at the kneeling terrorist's head atop the truck. The terrorists, angered at the foiling of their plan, decide to hijack a passenger aircraft to threaten the government to release their fellow terrorist, who is a big-shot in their organisation.
Vikram Madan (Shiney Ahuja) is a former pilot, whose flying license was cancelled a few years ago as he had violated rules during a previous hijack. The hijack also killed his wife, and Vikram now works as maintenance chief at the airport. His daughter is also one of the hostages in the latest hijack, and he sneaks inside the aircraft when it lands at Chandigarh airport for fuel.
The first hour of Hijack is rather slow, and meandres unnecessarily around the plot with scenes and songs that are not required.
The only song that you don’t have a problem with is the ‘item number’ featuring a Brazilian bombshell. It ends with an explosion, a bomb blast that blows up the nightclub.

The story was good....They couldve made the movie even
better
Masand is an idiot
this film got ruined bcoz of melodrama and esha deol n the
minister n da villain
masand doesnt know anythin bout movies, he thinks every
movie shud impress him
I do not agree with this review at all--i prefer rajeev
masand's review on the same site. It's quite discouraging to
read conflicting reviews on the same site and it would be
much better for your readership if you try and maintain
constants.
seriously, this movie was not only not good, it was
exceptionally bad....I wonder what you found good in it.
still, i don't want to dishearten you--you write well and
your technical observations are very, very good.
