Music Review: Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
The music of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is quite an interesting thing in itself. To begin with, the CD cover comes with a 3-D holographic image of Anushka Sharma and a bespectacled SRK, and when you tip it, the images morph into a trendy denim clad SRK and sporty Anushka, reminiscent of Dil To Pagal Hai!
Next, you are treated to some crunchy, evocative lyrics by Jaideep Sahni. In recent times, Sahni has successfully evoked both contemporary and conventional India with his brand of dialogues and lyrics (Khosla ka Ghosla, Bunty Aur Babli, Johnny Gaddaar, Aaja Nachle, Chak De etc). The good work continues.
And finally, Salim and Sulaiman go all out for live instruments ranging from the humble harmonium to the santoor, violins, trumpets and what have you!
But that's where the feelgood express comes to a grinding halt.
The first song of the album Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai sung by Roopkumar Rathod has a old-worldsy feel to it. It is melody-driven with dafli-dholak and acoustic guitar that sometimes veer towards a vintage Barjatya-Ravindra Jain sound - simple and soothing. And this is where you are actually introduced to the title of the film. Rathod's is not a voice you hear often and is pleasant to the ears. Tujh mein... is hummable and lingers.
Unfortunately, when the same is sung by Shreya Ghoshal, it seems to suffer from a serious Karva Chauth hangover. No offence to the ritual, but the prayer-like rendition sans rhythm, conjures images of bejewelled ladies with their lamps in designer gardens. Maybe the actual song picturisation has got nothing to do with Karva Chauth, but that's exactly the mood evoked here. It is that cliched but mercifully rather short.

Nice film

Mr. Reviewer, you need to get your ears checked. From which
angle does the tujh mein rab dikhta hai sounds old worldly?
The songs has the most romantic lyrics i have heard in a
long time. And how did you come to the conclusion that its
short version is on karva chauth?
you didn't even stop here! Just because the album doesn't
have unnecessary songs, you are comparing it to himesh's
albums!!! Srk's movies are for the people who have a heart
and you my friend seem to be missing it!! Go and watch duds
like yuvvvvvvraaaaajjjj if you like unmatched music score
with a story that has the eq of a teaspoon!
Reviewer is right in all aspects rab ne bana di jodi music
is not upto the mark.I repeat 'not upto the mark'.But it
doesn't mean it is not good enough.Few tracks are good like
haule haule rest are 'crap'.I was expecting somthing new and
uncompareable but what i heard was ordinary and blow
expectation.
leave either you love srk or not...But one thing you will
all believe that ghajini music is much better ,much worthier
and lot of better..And even if you people see the tailers
the different is quite clear whos the winner?
i think neither traiolers nor the music exceeds exception!
2/5 starts!
