MUSIC REVIEW: Singh is Kinng
Just what makes something worth reviewing? Many of us who do this week after week, often live in the hope of finding that one film or television show or music album that makes our job a little more interesting. To say that not a single interesting film music album has come our way since Jodhaa Akbar would not be an overstatement. Indeed, there has been the music of Race, which though catchy hasn't exactly made us stand up and cheer.
Akshay Kumar's Singh Is Kinng hit the music stores recently and before we knew it, the CD was already waiting on the desk to be heard. So just how is it, you ask? Well, let's just say if you've liked Race, chances are that you'll like this one too. This however is not to say that the music is of the same genre. But Singh is Kinng, just like Race belongs to the generation that has grown up listening to assembly line tunes. So it does lack personality though it is bound to do well in the music stores. And of course that is not to mention the Singh is Kinng track, which eerily reminds one of the Idea mobile jingle.
The album comprises 12 tracks of which six are remix versions. That brings us down to six original tracks of which the title track is by far the catchiest. Four other songs from the album – Jee Karda, Bas Ek Kinng, Bhootni Ke and Talli Hua – are just about okay.
But if you're one of those who simply swear by hardcore Punjabi music, Singh is Kinng is the kind of music you should buy. It has an international Punjabi feel to it and you know it's directed towards the NRI junta who oh-so-love being in touch with their roots through their music.
In this light, Teri Ore, the only love ballad in the album stands out for its soulful tunes, music arrangement and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shreya Ghoshal's voices. But this is also the one song, which sounds as if it's been forced in the whole ensemble of bhangra and bhangra-inspired music.

I love every songs in sing is king and i enjoyed all the
songs in this movie
I like the song singh is kingh
I can't stop listening to the songs over and over again, i
love indian songs like punjabi mc. This song rock man, hope
it is a hit here in egypt. Va va vooooooom.
Well singh is king
the song really emerges some energy within us to do some
work like a king
i really love it
Akshay's singis king music is rocking.I wish to all the
success the film also.I am very exciting about ur
movie.Tanq.
Awesome music by pritam with already hits like race &
jannat against him, he will now become a rage in punjab too.
Such great work, i wonder why the reviewer is quite harsh on
it. I think the music of singh is kinng stands out in todays
music scenario, as music of bachna ae haseeno don't even
come close to this album. Rest definitely not comparable, so
overall i feel this album is going to rock & rule the
discotheques, cars everywhere....
i love bas ek kinng, jee karda, teri ore(great romantic
number complete contrast to the rest).
while bhootni ke & talli hua, i agrees will be only
liked by us punjabis, but nonetheless great album, love all
the songs
Bohoy acchi hai mujhe bohat pasant aayegi jab dekhunga
The music is just
rocking......Fantastic......Awesome.........Gr8 work
pritam......Nd gr8 singing by da singers
I bought the singh is king album yesterday. I just love all
the songs for this movie, perfect dance numbers.
let me warn you...If you're looking for soft, soulful
music like taal or devdas, you're going to be disappointed.
This album is all about energy, dynamism, and groovy dance
music.
the title track is the first real hip-hop track in
bollywood, this music introduces that genre in our movies
for the first time and i think it was fantastic. Snoop dogg
makes it worth it. I think all the weddings and clubs are
gonna be playing these songs in the near future. All the
songs are potential to become real hits. My favourite songs
from the album are "singh is kinng" with snoop
dogg, jee karda, bas ek king, and teri ore. I love the
album.
Im luvin the songs for the sheer energy.....For any punjabi
this is treat ...Any who follows uk bhangra will enjoy it. I
agree the music is soulful types but overall packed with
energy . I can already see people dancing like wild freaks
on the tracks in every disc in india nd abroad. The only
downside being the no of remixes
