MUSIC REVIEW: Sorry Bhai
Modern, KK-ish, the songs of Sorry Bhai are nothing different from the zillions of 'different' music albums flooding the market these days. And surprisingly, it's one album where the title track is the worst of the lot.
Sorry Bhai sung by KK has the very typical English words interspersed in the otherwise not too striking lyrics. On top of that there's a female voice trying to add that 'sexy' 'oohs and aahs' as well. Haven't we had enough of that in zillions of Bollywood tracks?
Having said that, music director Gaurav Dayal has not done an altogether bad job of the tracks after all. Though nothing different or path breaking, the album has an identity of its own. Whereas some of the songs may remind you of Kholo Kholo Darwaze from TZP or songs from the film Gangster, they are not really lifts, like many Bollywood songs these days.
And that itself makes this album unique, don't you think? However, moving on to the tracks, Mere Khuda sung by KK is one of the best tracks in the album. KK begins the song beautifully and the instruments join him after one full paragraph. It's intense and passionate and KK has done full justice to the two emotions. Even the remix version of this track is worth a hear.
Pal sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and KK is a sweet love song which is perhaps the most hummable (if at all) of all the tracks. It is also the most 'filmy' song in the album. The remix version however is spoilt with too much hip hop rapping and English verses stuffed in it for no good reason.
Abhishek Nailwal sings Jalte Hain in a sweet and lighthearted manner. And finally, in this song one can notice the lyrics by Amitabh Varma. Short, simple and sweet lines make this song worth hearing and helps create an impact…however short lived!
All in all, it's not a bad album. The surprise part being the title track…which is by the way, the worst. Some of the songs are nice but you'll not remember them exactly two minutes after they are over. Reason enough to buy the album and keep it forever? Well, maybe not.
