MUSIC REVIEW: Thodi Life Thoda Magic

Like the film's title, the music of Thodi Life Thoda Magic is also bound to be compared to Yash Raj Films' Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic. While the Saif-Rani's score has been given a thumbs down [READ REVIEW], we decided to give Sahil Chaddha's film a chance.

Thoda Sa Gum Ho Thodi Khushi Ho: by Sonu Nigam goes with the film's theme and although slow, is a winner. But if not for Sonu's voice, it wouldn't have sounded as good.

Zindagi Zindagi: sung by Suhas and Saahil is good. But it leaves one wondering. Is it a song or is it a jingle? Maybe the makers have used it in the background throughout the film. But it could've easily been a full-fledged song, and a good one at that.

Yeh Mast Hawa Jo: Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu are by now experts in singing such numbers, the tunes of which are good to the ear but nothing new. Music director Vinay tries his hand (or should I say vocal chords?) at playback in the song.

This song uncannily reminded one of Sahil's Lal Dupatta Malmal Ka from his debut film. In fact, all through the album, one recalls the music of that film due to the use of dholaks and daflis in the songs. Maybe a deliberate attempt.

Tune Kahi Aur Maine Maani: has Kailash Kher crooning in a soft way. One has never seen this versatile singer go 'out of tune' in the past. But it happens in the beginning of the song itself. (Maybe it was intended, but it sounded really bad.) The rest of the song could've done well if it were shorter. It gets to be a real drag and we wait for it to end.
