Hollywood basks in blockbuster glory
Looking back at the year's top grossers so far
|
In the first eight months of 2007, Hollywood studios have already raked in over $4 billion. This makes it a record year for the industry which has been facing a tough competition from gaming and DVD markets. The previous high was in 2004 when ticket receipts brought in more than $3.95 billion. While sequels dominated the charts, films based on fresh scripts like Superbad, Wild Hogs and Knocked Up didn't lag far behind. The summer kicked off with Spiderman-3 which got a record $151 million opening despite mixed reviews. (With inputs from AP) |
